My Virtual Cookbook - Foodie Newsletters

Sweet little distractions with a few new twists (July 2014)

Hello Foodies!...

Ok, it's taken me a while, and I'm only halfway done, to type up new recipes I've tested since Jan.

And I thought I might as well share what I've got at this point as I've already got too many favourites to include.

Here are my top favourites for this edition...

(You'll notice I haven't really gotten to too many vietnamese recipes yet... that should be in my next edition!)

Daring Desserts

Chewy Anzac Biscuits - Love this recipe - they make the best Anzac cookies I've ever tried!

Earl Grey Tea Cookies - Delightfully unique and classy.  You'll want to serve them at High Tea after your guests have had their grey poupon and caviar!

Classic Chocolate Fudge - Extremely moorish and probably the easiest recipe I have, seriously!

Breton Apple Tart - For the die hard bakers, this is a delicious apple pie with an amazing crust.  Certainly worth all the fuss!

Lebanese Sfouf Cake - The most unique dessert I've made this year yet!  Deliciously one of a kind... certainly will draw a lot of excitement if you're looking to serve up something different.

Ricotta and Marsala-Soaked Raisins Cheesecake - The little twist of fortified wine-soaked raisins inside this delicious cheesecake will make any rainy day bright again!

Yes, yes... I didn't just make desserts this whole time.

So, now for a little savoury and umami!

Fennel & Apple Salad with Orange, Lemon & Honey Mustard Vinaigrette - It's got crunch, it's bursting with flavour and keeps well in the fridge.  This is my kind of salad!

Herb & Garlic Baked Celeriac - Simple but tasty winter roasted dish. It's also fun and new creative way to eat celeriac.

Spicy Hungarian Chicken Paprikash - I love chicken paprikash, as it's a tasty family recipe.  This one, provided by a great Hungarian friend (Thanks Jarka!), has a great spicy cayenne kick to it. Now I have two favourite chicken paprikash recipes (the other one's also on my website).

Sweet Chilli, Soy and Sesame Beef Ribs - Beef ribs are my new favourite meat.  Soooo flavourful and rich, without being too fatty (at least not for me!).  And this marinade & technique works just so well for these ribs.

Braised Chicken with Ginger - Awesome singular ginger-flavoured chicken.  Real simple, real good. Need I say more?!

Well I hope that provides some great inspiration for you... if not, there's certainly much more to peruse on the website.

And please don't hold back if you have lovely recipes you'd like to share, feel free to send them over for me to try (thank you to those who have already!).  I'm also open to recipe challenges where we could try out a new recipe together (eg. "I've always wanted to make XYZ recipe but not really sure how or maybe I just need a cooking buddy!").  I'll be happy to be your cooking buddy!

Also, I'll get right onto those Vietnamese recipes for you guys!... I know they're long overdue.
Hopefully you don't need to wait another 6 months for them.

In the meantime, wishing you all delicious adventures ahead !

Cheers,
Natia
