Welcome to Canada's Ice Hotel !

Can we all say "Brrrr"?!!!

For those of you looking to spend some quality time with your significant other... don't go to the ice hotel in Canada!!! But for those of you looking for a uniquely Canadian experience (crowds cheering! beavers flapping their tails!), a pretty cool multiroom igloo, and a reason to just plain come back to visit Canada... the Ice Hotel near Quebec City is the place to go!

Sponsored by Hilton Hotels, the ice hotel is absolutely huge (over 50 rooms with ice carvings!), with intricate ice sculptures everywhere, a cinema, an ice bar (with cups made out of ice), a jacuzzi (ok it's outside of the ice hotel), and even a wedding chapel !!

Average room temperature (-2 to -5 depending on who you ask) and even the bed is made is ice (note though that you have deer pelts underneath your sleeping bags). The arctic quality sleeping bags are for one person only and they ask that you sleep without - any clothes. But don't worry, you get a nice styrofoam cup of hot chocolate to warm you up in the morning (oh and breakfast too, don't worry).

It's a truly Canadian experience altogether... even for Canadians!!!

TOP TEN THINGS TO DO/SEE IN CANADA'S ICE HOTEL

Outdoor Jacuzzi.... that spells relief!!
Go dog-sledding ! (We didn't have time, but I went in Banff)
Rent a room for the night (theme rooms, like the Egyptian. Did I miss something, when was the last time Egypt had snow?!!!)
Eat Caribou at the local heated restaurant. Mmmm. But stay away from the Maple Sap whiskey. Yuk. Still then, there is a local brew called Caribou (Whiskey and Red Wine), Quebec's answer to staying warm overnight!
Tour the ice hotel... see everyone else's room!!! There are over 20 themed rooms. Just don't lick the walls.
Drink vodka out of Ice glasses -- No, your lips don't stick to it, but it is tough to drink from it because the rim is 1" thick.
Go tobogganing, snowshoeing, icefishing, skidooing (no they didn't pay us for this!)

Dave getting up at 5:30 in the morning saying : "That's enough, my nose is falling off. I'm going inside!"
Hot chocolate served to guests in the morning (delivered by Dave at 7:30am).
Trying to get into the crazy sleeping bag, that covers everything but your face, until you realize that you have to turn the lights off. (and if tied really tightly, can cover everything but your mouth - Dave found this out).
